BREAKING NEWS: Police say banker killed himself after Y150 mil rogue trading loss

A Japanese banker who lost 150 million yen he had persuaded clients to invest off his employer’s books has killed himself, Resona Bank said Friday. The unnamed 25-year-old told three corporate clients of the Osaka-based bank last year that he could generate profits if they entrusted their cash to him. The banker, who worked at the bank’s Ikebukuro branch in Tokyo, collected a total of 155 million yen from them without informing his superiors, said a spokesman with the bank. “But most of the money appeared to be lost as he allegedly used the funds in foreign exchange and other trading,” the spokesman said. In January, the bank questioned him over the case after one of the three clients complained that he was uncontactable. The following day the man killed himself, the spokesman said. The bank prohibits its employees from collecting funds for investment without permission. The case was “extremely regrettable,” the spokesman said, adding that the bank has reported it to the Financial Service Agency. Japan Today

Adeeb said the landslide buried some 300 homes in the area — about a third of all houses there. The governor said rescue crews were working but didn’t have enough equipment, appealing for shovels. ”It’s physically impossible right now,” Adeeb said. “We don’t have enough shovels; we need more machinery.” More

‘Handing Over David’s Tomb Rewrites History in Israel’

Deputy Transport Minister Tzipi Hotovely (Likud) sent an urgent letter to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu Wednesday, demanding that he prevent the rumored transfer of David’s Tomb to Catholic hands. Hotovely’s letter surfaces following reports of an agreement between Israel and the Vatican which would transfer ownership of David’s Tomb on Mount Zion in Jerusalem to the Church. Hotovely noted that the Tomb is a sacred place for the Jewish people – and warned the Prime Minister not to make the same mistakes made regarding the Temple Mount, Judaism’s holiest site, which is in the hands of the Jordanian Waqf. More

Franklin Graham: The Flood of Compromise

Noah, the latest Hollywood epic, splashed across the big screen last month, revealing a flood of compromise. Described as a “biblically inspired fantasy film,” reviewers bragged that “despite its compromises … it retains a sense of religious awe.” But the great compromise cannot drown the truth. To use the phrase biblically inspired and the term fantasy in the same thought adulterates a historic record. Some say the world is not held responsible for misinterpreting God’s Word, but the Bible does not agree, as we clearly see in the story of Noah: “Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. … And He was grieved in His heart. … And God said to Noah, ‘The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth’” (Gen. 6:5-6, 13). More

Liberal Clerics Claim NC Same-Sex ‘Marriage’ Ban Violates Free Exercise of Religion

CHARLOTTE, NC – A group of liberal clerics have filed a legal challenge against North Carolina’s same-sex ‘marriage ban,’ asserting that it violates the free exercise of religion among clergy. The Cleveland, Ohio-based United Church of Christ (UCC), which is outside of biblical orthodoxy and was the first American religious group to ordain homosexuals and affirm abortion, filed the suit in federal court on Monday. Several local clergy members from within the UCC and those from other sects also joined the litigation. It is the first lawsuit to challenge a state marriage amendment on religious grounds. The plaintiffs assert that North Carolina’s ban on same-sex “marriage” unlawfully bars them from serving a certain sector of the public, thus inhibiting their liberty to perform their clerical duties. More

The Courant submitted the request in January after state police released a report on the Dec. 14, 2012, shooting that left 20 first-graders and six women dead at the Newtown school. The names of all witnesses interviewed by federal agents have been removed and there are no references to attempts by federal authorities in Washington, D.C., to recover information from a computer disk that shooter Adam Lanza destroyed. More

Fascism has been a term applied to the manner of organizing a society in which a government ruled by a dictator/bureaucracy that is unelected or a republic with pretend “lifetime” politicians,  controls the lives of the people and in which people are not allowed to disagree with the government. Such systems have always placed the “good” of the state before the worth of an individual. The right to property is subject to constant search and seizure and courts only rule in favor of the state. That was the closing days of Rome. It was also the Soviet Union and especially the East Germany with respect to organization. I went behind the Berlin Wall before it fell. You could not speak freely on the street but had to wait until you were alone. The Soviet Union was a Communist/Fascist State where you could not disagree with the government and they owned everything. More

Newly arrived virus spread by mosquitoes is rapidly gaining foothold across the Caribbean

A recently arrived mosquito-borne virus that causes an abrupt onset of high fever and intense joint pain is rapidly gaining a foothold in many spots of the Caribbean, health experts said Thursday. There are currently more than 4,000 confirmed cases of the fast-spreading chikungunya virus in the Caribbean, most of them in the French Caribbean islands of Martinique, Guadeloupe and St. Martin. Another 31,000 suspected cases have been reported across the region of scattered islands. The often painful illness most commonly found in Asia and Africa was first detected in December in tiny St. Martin. It was the first time that local transmission of chikungunya had been reported in the Americas. Since then, it has spread to nearly a dozen other islands and French Guiana, an overseas department of France on the north shoulder of South America. It is rarely fatal and most chikungunya patients rebound within a week, but some people experience joint pain for months to years. There is no vaccine and it is spread by the pervasive Aedes aegypti mosquito that transmits dengue fever, a similar but often more serious illness with a deadly hemorrhagic form.More

A number of U.S. states may revert to killing their death row inmates with electric chairs, firing squads and gas chambers as it becomes increasingly difficult to buy the chemicals used for lethal injections. The European Union has banned the export of one of the most common sedatives used in lethal injections, forcing states to experiment with new “cocktails” of drugs for executions. One such experimental recipe was used Tuesday in the botched execution of a prisoner in Oklahoma, leaving him writhing in pain to die of a massive heart attack 43 minutes later. Lawyers are seeking a moratorium on executions. More

Scientists vexed in probe of North American starfish deaths

Scientists are struggling to find the cause of a disease that is killing off numerous species of starfish on both the Pacific and Atlantic coasts of North America, dispatching the five-armed creatures in a particularly gruesome way. Researchers said on Thursday they have ruled out some possible culprits including fungi, some parasites and certain other microorganisms and are taking a hard look at whether viruses or bacteria may be to blame. The starfish, also called sea stars, are being obliterated by an unexplained wasting disease that causes white lesions to appear before the animal’s body sags and ruptures and it spills out its internal organs. More

Warning of impending judgment, the rabbi told the story of how, 3,000 years ago, King Solomon stood in another sacred assembly in his nation’s capital. “There he dedicated a temple and the nation’s future to God,” Cahn said. “There he interceded and prayed that if his nation would ever turn away from God and calamity came upon it, if the people turned back to God in repentance that God would have mercy on them.” At the National Day of Prayer event held on Capitol Hill Thursday, Rabbi Jonathan Cahn issued a dire warning to America: The nation “stands in danger of impending judgment, and we all know it.” “Too much of the church has lost its saltiness to do anything about it,” he declared. “And now the same biblical signs of national judgment that appeared in the last days of ancient Israel are reappearing on American soil.” At the beginning of his commanding speech, Cahn, author of runaway bestseller, “The Harbinger,”and its movie companion “The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment” from WND films, warned that his address would not be politically correct. He urged the nation to “come before the Lord and seek His face, and His purposes, and His will for this land and to pray for America.” More

Saudi Arabia showcased its new ballistic missiles in the country’s military parade on Thursday. The Chinese-made Dongfeng-3 missiles have a range of up to 3,300 kilometers and are armed with nuclear warheads. In the past, sources voiced concern that the Saudi missile’s main target is Israel, but due to the growing strategic rivalry between the Riyadh and Tehran, Iran has become the primary enemy. “Israel is no longer the topic of choice, we are looking at a dramatic step meant first and foremost to deter Iran,” said Tal Inbar, the head of center for space studies at the Fisher Institute in Herzliya – which has been tracking the missile arsenals of Middle Eastern governments.More

Obama Official On Benghazi: ‘Dude, This Was Like Two Years Ago’.

Former White House National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor went on Fox News on Thursday, and after host Brett Baier grilled him over the issue of the talking points used after the attack, he finally responded with, “Dude, this was like two years ago.” Throughout the exchange, Vietor — who seemed annoyed at the line of questioning — wasn’t really able to answer Baier on various questions, telling him he “believes so” or that he didn’t remember. ”You don’t remember?” Baier asked, to which Vietor responded, “Dude, this was like two years ago. We’re still talking about the most mundane process … we’re talking about the process of editing talking points. That’s what bureaucrats do all day long.” More
