CDC Warns Up to 75 Scientists May Have Been Exposed to Anthrax.

As many as 75 scientists working in US federal government laboratories in Atlanta may have been exposed to live anthrax bacteria and are being offered treatment to prevent infection, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Thursday. The potential exposure occurred after researchers working in a high-level biosecurity laboratory at the agency’s Atlanta campus failed to follow proper procedures to inactivate the bacteria. They then transferred the samples, which may have contained live bacteria, to lower-security CDC labs not equipped to handle live anthrax. Dr Paul Meechan, director of the environmental health and safety compliance office at the CDC, said the agency discovered the potential exposure on the evening of Friday, 13 June, and immediately began contacting individuals working in the labs who may have unknowingly handled live anthrax bacteria.More

Just when you thought it couldn’t go any lower, the approval rating for Congress among Americans has hit an all time low, according to a new Gallup poll. The number of Americans who now have “a great deal” or “quite a lot” of confidence in Congress as an institution stands at a paltry 7 percent. Just 4 percent have a “great deal” of confidence, while only 3 percent say they have “quite a lot” of confidence. More

Wolfe planned to travel to Syria to help radical groups fighting there, according to the criminal complaints filed against them. More

A Texan was told by his apartment manager that he must remove his American flag hanging on his patio because it’s a “threat to the Muslim community.” Even more, the manager of the Lodge on El Dorado in Webster, Texas released a press release to reporters stating that while management “admires our resident’s patriotism,” they must “maintain the aesthetics of our apartment community and provide for the safety of all residents.” Somehow Duy Tran is a threat to his neighbors, particularly Muslims, for proudly displaying an American flag on his patio. “What really stunned me is that she said it’s a threat towards the Muslim community,” he said to KHOU. “I’m not a threat toward anybody.” He also added that he’s not taking the flag down without a fight. More

9 Statements From Obama This Week That Made a Mockery of God’s Word

On Tuesday, President Barack Obama spoke at an LGBT fundraiser in New York City. You can watch or read the entire speech here. Here are a few excerpts from the transcript of his speech:

  1. “The day that the Supreme Court issued its ruling, United States v. Windsor, was a great day for America.”
  2. “So Pride Month is a time for celebration, and this year we’ve got a lot to celebrate. If you think about everything that’s happened in the last 12 months, it is remarkable. In nine more states you’re now free to marry the person you love—that includes my two home states of Hawaii and Illinois. The NFL drafted its first openly gay player. The U.S. Postal Service made history by putting an openly gay person on a stamp—the late, great Harvey Milk smiling from ear to ear.”
  3. “When I took office, only two states had marriage equality. Today, 19 states and the District of Columbia do.”
  4. “But because of your help, we’ve been able to do more to protect the rights of lesbian and gay, and bisexual and transgender Americans than any administration in history.”
  5. “We repealed ‘don’t ask, don’t tell,’ because no one should have to hide who you love to serve the country we love.”
  6. “I lifted the 22-year ban on people with HIV traveling to the U.S.”
  7. “Before I took office, only one openly gay judge had been confirmed in history. We have 10 more.”
  8. “We stopped defending the so-called Defense of Marriage Act in the courts and argued alongside Edie and Robbie before the highest court in the land.”
  9. “I’ve directed my staff to prepare for my signature, an executive order prohibiting discrimination by federal contractors on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.” Charisma

Google Makes Huge Move to Ban Pornography

In May, Morality In Media had a productive meeting with Google about how they can help protect individuals, families and children from exploitation. Today, we are seeing the fruits of that meeting. We listed Google on both our 2013 and 2014 Dirty Dozen List because of their involvement in and profit from pornography in Google Play, Google Ads, YouTube and more. Google sent an email out alerting their advertisers—particularly pornography and other adult themed websites—that they will be implementing their new advertising policy which eliminates pornographic and sexually explicit ads. In addition, it seems Google will also no longer link to sites that contain such materials, no matter how benign their advertising. More

Allstate Insurance Debuts ‘Safe In My Hands’ Commercial promoting Homosexuality

Allstate Insurance is following in the footsteps of Honey Maid and Hotwire with a poignant, gay-inclusive new ad campaign. The “Safe In My Hands” commercial was released as part of Allstate’s 2014 #OutHoldingHands Pride Month effort and features a soundtrack by singer-songwriter Eli Lieb. Unlike other gay-themed ads, however, “Safe In My Hands” uses a unique metaphor as a stand-in for homosexuality: the ad’s animated protagonist has an oversized hand which causes him to be ostracized from his peers while riding public transit and on the sports field. Fortunately, there’s a happy ending in store for our big-handed hero. More

DAYS OF LOT – Luxembourg Approves Gay Marriage

Lawmakers in Luxembourg, whose prime minister is openly gay, overwhelmingly approved changes in the small European nation’s legislation governing marriage on Wednesday that will allow people of the same sex to wed and to adopt children. The Chamber of Deputies voted 56-4 to adopt the bill, which is said to be part of the most fundamental rewrite of Luxembourg’s laws on marriage since 1804. The chamber’s website said the new rules could take effect in early 2015, or six months after their official publication. The Human Rights Campaign, a U.S.-based organization in favor of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights, commended Luxembourg on its decision. More

WAR DRUMS: Obama to speak on Iraq; US weighs its options

In the strongest sign yet of U.S. doubts about Iraq’s stability, the Obama administration is weighing whether to press the Shiite prime minister in Baghdad to step down in a last-ditch effort to prevent disgruntled Sunnis from igniting a full-scale civil war. President Barack Obama is also expected to announce Thursday that he is deploying about 100 Green Berets to Iraq to help train and advise Iraqi forces, according to a U.S. official. However, Obama does not plan to announce immediate U.S. airstrikes on Iraq, which have increasingly become less of a focus of deliberations in recent days.More

RUMORS OF WAR – Is a third Iraq war imminent?

foxThe latest Iraq war is between Iraq’s pro-Iranian Shiite government and pro-Al Qaeda Sunni rebels. It boils down to Iran vs. Al Qaeda, radical Shiites versus radical Sunnis. The first rule of foreign policy is if your enemies are killing each other, don’t step in to stop them. What we’ve seen in Syria, and now in Iraq, is the early phase of a 30-year civil war between Shiites and Sunnis, which will go from region to region, country to country, tribe to tribe. Fighters will become increasingly radical and brutal, and they will be fueled by Arab oil money. For them, it is a fight about religion, power, geography and resources. And it could well be a fight to the finish. More

Iraq used these weapons during the Iran – Iraq War (1980 to 1988) and against the Kurds in Halabja in 1988. More

desA flood of illegals has massively surged at our southwestern borders. The economic impact of medical care, education and incarceration for illegals forced on taxpayers is bankrupting Arizona.  Why are such swarms entering the U.S. illegally NOW, particularly children? Newspapers in Mexico and Central and South America are actually describing U.S. “open borders,” encouraging people to come with promises of food stamps or “amnesty.” It is textbook Cloward-Piven strategy to overwhelm and collapse the economic and social systems, in order to replace them with a “new socialist order” under federal control. Carried by this tsunami of illegals are the invisible “travelers” our politicians don’t like to mention: diseases the U.S. had controlled or virtually eradicated: tuberculosis (TB), Chagas disease, dengue fever, hepatitis, malaria, measles, plus more. I have been working on medical projects in Central and South America since 2009, so I am aware of problems these countries face from such diseases. More

Middle School Kids Learn How To SHAKE BABIES UNTIL THEY DIE

tongueSeventh-grade students at Churchville-Chili Middle School in the suburbs of Rochester, N.Y. learned exactly how to shake babies until they die during a lesson concerning shaken baby syndrome. The training occurred on Friday in a class called family and consumer sciences, reports EAGnews.org. A tip about the lesson came from a parent who said her 12-year-old son had returned from the taxpayer-funded school visibly disturbed. The boy explained the lesson, saying that it involved a video and a worksheet. The video warned of the dangers of shaking babies. It showed a baby who was shaken and badly injured a well as the baby’s father, who ended up in jail because he had shaken his infant child. After the video, the teacher picked up a specially-made doll and shook it in front of the class.More

Obama Is First President to Be 3D-Printed

obama 4A team at the Smithsonian Institution has scanned President Barack Obama to create the first 3D printed portrait of a sitting president. According to The Associated Press, experts scanned Obama earlier this year using two different processes: a “light stage” face scanner and hand-held 3D scanners and cameras to help build a bust of the 44th president. It took 40 hours to print. ”You can see down to the wrinkles in the skin and the pores on his face,” Vince Rossi, a 3D imaging specialist, told the AP. More

volcanoQuito, ECUADOR – The National Secretariat for Risk Management of Ecuador today decided to change from orange to yellow the alert in Tungurahua Volcano, 80 km south of Quito, given the decline in activity. According to a report of the Geophysical Institute of the National Polytechnic School, the volcanic activity at Tungurahua has remained low in the recent days, so the authorities decided to change the level of the alert.  In the first months of the year, the volcano showed an increased activity with columns of ash and gases that rose reaching four kilometers above the crater, causing the orange alert to be declared in the affected areas.  Although the alert level was changed, the Secretariat said that provintial and cantonal Emergency Operations Committees should keep on alert in order to react to any situation to protect the citizens.  At an altitude of five thousand 20 meters above the sea level, Tungurahua volcano erupted in 1999 and since then high activity periods with others of relative calm have been interspersed. More

Sabancaya Volcano in southern Peru wakes up after 15 year slumber

peruPERU – Geological authorities are reporting that the Sabancaya volcano in southern Peru has become active after 15 years of silence. According to information released by the Peruvian Geophysical Institute (IGP), Sabancaya has erupted several times. The first recorded activity at Sabancaya was in 1750, and the volcano became active again in 1784. 200 years later, in 1986, the volcano once again displayed activity. Now, the volcano is once again active, having gradually intensified since late February. Speaking to El Comercio, IGP investigator Orlando Macedo said “All this activity is part of an expected process. Before the eruption, tremors were occurring closer and closer to the volcano and the crater. However, the process is taking longer than that which we saw at the Ubinas Volcano, when everything happened in a matter of days.More

Churchgoing Alabama Appeals Court Judges Unanimously Strike Down Ban on Sodomy

The five churchgoing members of the Alabama Criminal Court of Appeals unanimously struck down the state’s ban on sodomy on Friday, stating that Alabama’s law against sex acts between those of the same gender is unconstitutional. Justices Windom, Welch, Kellum, Burke and Joiner overturned Alabama Code 13A-6-65 in making their declaration, which criminalizes those who engage in “deviate sexual intercourse with another person,” and “[c]onsent is no defense to a prosecution.” The case, Williams v. Alabama, centered on a Dallas County man who sodomized another man after forcing him to drop his pants, and was sentenced to 12 months behind bars for sexual misconduct under the law. The state attorney had brought the case to the appeals court after prosecution had failed to have the man convicted of a felony under the law—first-degree rape-based sodomy—and instead was found guilty of a misdemeanor for engaging in what the court considered consensual “deviate sexual intercourse.” The state asked the appeals court to overturn the ruling and remand the case to convict the man of rape. In addition to rejecting the state’s request, the court struck down Alabama’s sodomy law altogether, citing the 2003 U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Lawrence v. Texas, which decriminalized sodomy on a federal level. The case had been decided by a Republican majority. More

Christian Homeschooling Families Lead Fight Against ‘Common Core’ Standards

As states across the country grapple with the controversial ‘Common Core’ educational guidelines, many Christian homeschooling families and organizations are leading the charge against the standards, asserting that they threaten parents’ rights to educate their children. Several states—including Texas, Virginia, Indiana, Oklahoma, and, most recently, Louisiana—have all taken steps to partially or completely opt out of the Common Core curriculum. The nationalized Common Core standards would require schools to meet certain learning benchmarks at each grade level, but some educators and lawmakers are skeptical about the program. “We’re very alarmed about choice and local control of curriculum being taken away from our parents and educators,” Louisiana Governor Billy Jindal stated in a recent press conference. In addition to educators and lawmakers, many Christian homeschooling families and homeschooling organizations have expressed opposition to Common Core. BJU Press, a leading publisher of Christian homeschooling materials, strongly condemned the motive behind the new standards. More

U.S. Marshals accidentally leak potential Bitcoin bidders list

A list of potential bidders for the Bitcoin auction was accidentally leaked by the U.S. Marshals Service on Wednesday, according to the agency. The Marshals Service confirmed that it accidentally released the names in an email to update interested parties on the auction’s guidelines. “The U.S. Marshals Service inadvertently sent an email today revealing the email addresses of people who had submitted questions about the Bitcoin auction to a general USMS mailbox that had been created for the auction,” Lynzey Donahue, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Marshals, said in an emailed statement. “The USMS apologizes for this mistake which was in no way intentional,” the statement said. More

When Austin Holland was being considered for his job as the sole seismologist at the Oklahoma Geological Survey in 2009, his interviewer posed a wry question: “Are you going to be able to entertain yourself as a seismologist in Oklahoma?” Back then, the state had a 30-year average of only two earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or higher per year. As it turns out, though, boredom has been the least of Holland’s concerns. Over the last five years, the state has had thousands of earthquakes — an unprecedented increase that has made it the second-most seismically active state in the continental United States, behind California. More

Payment with Biometry Soon Available in the CB Bank Card System

biosFrance’s national interbank network, Groupement des Cartes Bancaires CB, is currently evaluating the use of biometry in payment transactions and is expected to approve a strong authentication standard, defined by Natural Security for use in the CB system, before the end of the year. The objective of the authentication method defined by the Natural Security Alliance is to simplify and secure payments. The cardholder simply has to place his or her finger on a biometric reader in store or at an ATM to validate a payment or cash withdrawal. The first CB approval will involve the association of biometry and a chip integrated into a keyfob. Integration of the chip into a micro-SD card of a mobile phone is also being studied. Highly convenient, the user keeps the keyfob or telephone on his or her person, for example in a pocket or handbag, without needing to present it physically to pay or withdraw cash. More

Conn. School Censors Vatican, Clears Planned Parenthood

Controversy is flaring up at a Connecticut high school after a student alleged that its internet filter is biased against conservative websites. Andrew Lampart, a senior at Nonnewaug High School in Woodbury, told a local Fox station that he was conducting research for an in-class debate on gun control when he discovered that many pro-gun sites, such as National Rifle Association’s homepage, were blocked by the school’s filter. Meanwhile, anti-gun sites remained easily accessible, he said. Lampart says he then expanded his search and found additional red flags. The state Republican Party’s website was blocked, but not the state Democratic Party’s. Pro-life groups like the National Right to Life were blocked, but not Planned Parenthood or NARAL Pro-Choice America. Even Christianity.com and the Vatican’s homepage fell on the wrong side of the digital barrier, though islam-guide.org and al-islam.org, both top Google search results for “Islam,” went unscathed. Each of the blocked sites was struck down by the schools SonicWall filter which labeled them as impermissible “Political/Advocacy Groups” sites. More

President Obama has a pen, a phone and apparently a list of activist homosexual judges ready to appoint to the federal bench who will work to implement his agenda regardless of what Congress or voters decide. Two of those judges garnered U.S. Senate confirmation on Thursday. Darrin Gayles to the U.S. District Court for Southern District of Florida was confirmed by a vote of 98-0 while Staci Yandle will be seated on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois by a vote of 52-44. Gayles, a 48-year-old Florida circuit-court judge, becomes the nation’s first openly homosexual black man to be confirmed to the federal bench. Yandle, 53, an attorney in private practice in Illinois, will become the second black lesbian federal judge and the first in two decades. “Never before in the course of the history of our state has there been an Article III federal judge who is openly a member of the LGBT community,” Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., said ahead of Yandle’s vote. Durbin said Yandle’s confirmation marks “another important milestone in America’s journey toward equality of opportunity.”More
