David Wilkerson’s Son Shares Intimate Details of Dad’s Life

With the mantra, “You can’t do everything, but you can do something,” David Wilkerson dedicated his life to helping some of the most dangerous men and women escape the destructive spiral of drugs and violence while traveling the world sharing about the love of Jesus. His son and ministry partner, Gary Wilkerson, is now releasing the amazing story of his father’s life and service in David Wilkerson: The Cross, the Switchblade, and the Man Who Believed. The first book about David Wilkerson’s life, The Cross and The Switchblade, was published in 1962, sold more than 15 million copies in 30 languages, and was later made into a movie. But, some of David Wilkerson’s most important contributions came after the best-selling book was published. He later founded World Challenge, an international mission organization in 1971, wrote almost 40 books, and planted Times Square Church as a place where these outcasts could find a home. Today, it has 8,000 members. More

Iraqi Christians Take Refuge in Biblical City

The advance of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has left few safe havens for Iraq’s Christians. Many have found protection in Iraqi Kurdistan and help from American believers. When CBN News learned that many fleeing Christians found refuge in the northern Ninevah town of Alqosh, we traveled to the ancient Christian community to meet them. Alqosh is mentioned in the Bible—it was the hometown of the Old Testament prophet Nahum. Today, it’s exclusively Christian; no Muslims are allowed to live in Alqosh.  Radi Yusef and his son had arrived in Alqosh just two hours earlier from Qaraqosh, near Mosul. More

4 Sins That Are Also Okay If You Ignore Leviticus on Homosexuality

Have you ever played the Leviticus game? Many supporters of homosexuality—even professing Christians—enjoy a round of the Leviticus game from time to time. How do you play? Player 1 begins with Leviticus 18:22, which says, “Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable” (ESV). Sadly, this verse has been deemed a “clobber passage” because of how some have used it to hurt LGBTs, whether intentionally or unintentionally. God’s Law is a light that leads us to repentance and, with the help of God’s miraculous transformation of our lives through Christ, true holiness in everything we do. Its intended use is to instill godly conviction leading to hope, change, and a hatred for the sin in our lives—not to “clobber” anyone. But if you want to continue playing the game, find as many crazy-sounding laws in the book of Leviticus as you can. The object of the game is to show that modern Christians should reject all of those laws, including the ones about homosexuality. More

PROPHECY ALERT: ISIS leader calls on Muslims to immigrate to territory to build Caliphate

The leader of the extremist group that seized much of northern Iraq and Syria called on Muslims worldwide on Tuesday to join the battle and help build an Islamic state in the newly conquered territory. The 19-minute audiotape from Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi came two days after his organization, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, unilaterally declared the establishment of an Islamic state, or caliphate, in the land it controls. It also proclaimed al-Baghdadi the caliph, and demanded that all Muslims around the world pledge allegiance to him. More

UN to intervene in Detroit water shutoffs?

water copyWatch out, Detroit. Here comes the United Nations. WND has learned that after issuing a statement last week condemning Detroit’s decision to send water shut-off notices to tens of thousands of customers behind in their payments, the U.N now plans to conduct confidential policy discussions with the Obama administration to be followed by a formal public report to the U.N. Human Rights Council. On Monday, the U.N. Human Rights Council’s office in Geneva confirmed to WND that the U.N. plans to intervene directly in the Detroit water crisis, determined to apply international law to judge the U.S. in violation of human rights to safe water. Detroit Water and Sewerage Department, DWSD, announced in March it would send shut-off notices to customers with balances more than $150 overdue or who are more than two months behind in their payments. The department, which said nearly half of the 324,000 water and sewerage accounts are overdue, has put out 46,000 notices since March. About 4,500 accounts have had their water shut off. More

Judge Strikes Down Kentucky’s Gay Marriage Ban

A federal judge has struck down Kentucky’s ban on same-sex marriage, ruling that gay couples have the right to marry in the Bluegrass State. ”In America, even sincere and long-hold religious beliefs do not trump the constitutional rights of those who happen to have been out-voted,” U.S. District court Judge John G. Heyburn II wrote in the ruling, which concluded that the state’s ban violated the U.S. Constitution’s Equal Protection Clause. The judge stayed the ruling pending an appeal in the 6th U.S. Circuit Court, meaning same-sex weddings are not yet allowed in the state. However, Heyburn criticized Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear (D) for arguing that the ban preserves the state’s birth rate and therefore contributes to Kentucky’s economic stability. More

BIRTH PANGS – Big Earthquakes Double in 2014

If you think there have been more earthquakes than usual this year, you’re right. A new study finds there were more than twice as many big earthquakes in the first quarter of 2014 as compared with the average since 1979. ”We have recently experienced a period that has had one of the highest rates of great earthquakes ever recorded,” said lead study author Tom Parsons, a research geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in Menlo Park, California. But even though the global earthquake rate is on the rise, the number of quakes can still be explained by random chance, said Parsons and co-author Eric Geist, also a USGS researcher. Their findings were published online June 21 in the journal Geophysical Research Letters. More

18 Signs That The Global Economic Crisis Is Accelerating As We Enter The Last Half Of 2014

A lot of people that I talk to these days want to know “when things are going to start happening”.  Well, there are certainly some perilous times on the horizon, but all you have to do is open up your eyes and look to see the global economic crisis unfolding.  As you will see below, even central bankers are issuing frightening warnings about “dangerous new asset bubbles” and even the World Bank is declaring that “now is the time to prepare” for the next crisis.  Most Americans tend to only care about what is happening in the United States, but the truth is that serious economic trouble is erupting in South America, all across Europe and in Asian powerhouses such as China and Japan.  And the endless conflicts in the Middle East could erupt into a major regional war at just about any time.  We live in a world that is becoming increasingly unstable, and people need to understand that the period of relative stability that we are enjoying right now is extremely vulnerable and will not last long.  The following are 18 signs that the global economic crisis is accelerating as we enter the last half of 2014.More

‘Why I am backing cash and gold until stock markets fall’

Respected fund manager Sebastian Lyon, who oversees the Personal Assets investment trust and the Trojan fund, explains why he is holding cash and gold until stock markets fall.  In the new film Belle, based on the story of Dido Elizabeth Belle, the heroine is informed that she has inherited an income of £2,000 a year – equivalent to £300,000 in today’s money. In 1779, when the film is set, the focus was on the value of income, not of capital. In the low interest rate, low return world of the past 14 years, it is income (in the form of dividends) rather than capital growth that has produced the vast bulk of stock market returns. More

Hack Your Brain With A Machine That Reads Minds

mindsStar Wars first planted the idea over 35 years ago that we could move objects with our minds. That idea is now a reality that has come a long way in the last few years. Emotiv is on the cutting edge of that technology with headgear that allows you to do things, such as make a toy car whiz by or help a quadriplegic mix music like a DJ using just their brain power. It works by scanning your brain for signals using the Emotiv EEG device on your head. That device then relays your signals through a brain-computer interface to detect emotions, interest and a slew of other things. It takes some work but, as the video above shows, it also helps you use your Jedi training skills to move objects with just the power of thought.. More

Discriminating against federal employees based on sexual orientation is already banned. Obama made the announcement at a Pride Month Celebration in the East Room of the White House, where the president and his wife, Michelle, recognized gay Americans who have been influential in their lives. He recounted the steps he has taken to advance gay rights, including signing hate crimes legislation and working to end the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy in the military. More

This is in addition to some embassy staff who were moved out of Baghdad earlier this month. More

Military Bans Bibles From Bases But Forces Soldiers To Adhere To Islamic Practices During Ramadan

U.S. personnel accustomed to drinking their coffee on the drive to work will have to put that habit on hold for about a month. ISIS Terror Threat to U.S Targets ‘High,’ Say Officials

ISIS, the Islamist terror group that now controls much of Syria and Iraq, poses an “extremely high” terror threat to U.S. targets, and has the bomb-making skills and foreign fighters needed to strike U.S. and other Western interests, according to multiple U.S. intelligence officials. “While trying to rank threats or compare them to previous threat periods is a hazardous endeavor,” said one former U.S. counterterrorism official, “the current threat coming out of ISIS — and Syria more broadly — is extremely high.” While the opposition in Syria and Iraq is diverse, said the official, there are “sub elements” within it that are “especially worrisome because of their commitment to attack the West.” Another senior counterterrorism official added that in recent weeks, “ISIS has accumulated tens of millions in wealth, large amounts of military equipment and ordnance, and has expanded the safe haven in which it operates.” More
