Hundreds Rally in Support of Right to Pray at Georgia Mall

DUBLIN, Ga. –
Several hundred people attended a rally on Friday in support of the right to pray inside of a Georgia mall after a women’s power walk group had been stopped from praying by security last month. As previously reported, Dublin Girls Run has been meeting at Dublin Mall each week since November of last year for a power walk, and opens each meeting in prayer. But the women state that a few weeks ago, their weekly prayer was interrupted by a security guard who advised that they needed to discontinue the practice. “The security guard came running toward us and said, ‘You are not allowed to pray at the mall. That’s against the policy,’” group leader Tammy Brantley told Fox News reporter Todd Starnes. “I told him we’ve been praying since last November and no one said anything about it,” she said. “We’ve never had any problems.” More

Reagan Judge Sides with Wiccans to Remove Ten Commandments from City Property

BLOOMFIELD, N.M
. – A judge nominated by then-President Ronald Reagan has sided with two New Mexico Wiccans and has ordered that a Ten Commandments monument must be removed from city property because it endorses Christianity. U.S. District Judge James A. Parker issued his ruling on Thursday, stating that the 3,000-pound monument violated the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution as it constituted a government “establishment of religion.” “In view of the circumstances surrounding the context, history, and purpose of the Ten Commandments monument, it is clear that the City of Bloomfield has violated the Establishment Clause because its conduct in authorizing the continued display of the monument on City property has had the primary or principal effect of endorsing religion,” he wrote. The monument had been erected in 2011 following a resolution allowing private citizens to place historical displays at Bloomfield City Hall. A former city council member had proposed the monument four years prior, which was then approved by city council but paid for with private money. More

wasAfter two days of meetings, the emergency committee of the World Health Organization unanimously agreed to declare the ebola virus a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on Friday. Hundreds are already reported to have died. More

Traffic-light hackers could cause jams across U.S.

Branden Ghena pulls his car up under a traffic light in a city in Michigan. He plugs a radio transmitter into the car’s power adapter, connects it to his laptop and, with a few keyboard strokes, takes control of every traffic light in town. “We were able to advance the light,” Ghena says of the experiment, which took place in May. “We could make it turn green.” Ghena, an electrical engineer at the University of Michigan, and his team were exploiting a vulnerability in the light’s traffic controller. Present at every signalled intersection, the controller switches between red, yellow and green lights according to its programming. It can be set to change at regular intervals, or based on input from external traffic sensors. These controllers are often networked across a city, and receive commands via a sequence of data packets. This allows engineers to manage them remotely, but anyone with network access can send these commands. All Ghena had to do was figure out which sequences of packets corresponded to which controller commands, and he gained full control.More

Feinstein warns of risk of ISIS attack on U.S.

Senate Intelligence Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein warned Friday of the risk that the insurgent group ISIL could be preparing fighters to attack American and European targets. “It has become clear that ISIL is recruiting fighters in Western countries, training them to fight its battles in the Middle East and possibly returning them to European and American cities to attack us in our backyard,” the California Democrat said in a statement backing military action authorized by President Barack Obama. “We simply cannot allow this to happen.” Feinstein called for a broader military campaign against ISIL, not just the targeted missions authorized by the president. “It takes an army to defeat an army, and I believe that we either confront ISIL now or we will be forced to deal with an even stronger enemy in the future. Inaction is no longer an option. I support actions by the administration to coordinate efforts with Iraq and other allies to use our military strength and targeting expertise to the fullest extent possible,” Feinstein said. More
